“Independent Bottlers,” also referred to as I.B.'s buy casks of premade whiskey from distilleries and then age and bottle it themselves, determining when to sell it as well as how to label it (usually with the source distillery prominently displayed). Some IB’s specialize in oddities and rarities, some puts famous whiskeys on exotic barrels to age, others release only “cask-strength.”

Signatory is an independent bottler of rare Single Malts that would otherwise be lost to the blenders. These Malts are hard to come by, but offer a unique opportunity to taste rare offerings. Signatory selects their casks from large lots of the highest quality scotch. The balance of the casks are then sent back to the blenders. Pulteney 1989 - Signatory Bottling
Old Pulteney as this malt is referred to, is actually the most Northern distillery on the Scottish Mainland. This malt has a real maritime spiciness derived from it’s proximity to the ocean rather than any influence of peat. Aged in bourbon barrel the sweet vanilla balances perfectly with the spicy malt. Glen Grant 34 y.o. Duncan Taylor
The Glen Grant distillery was established in Rothes by the brothers James and John Grant in 1840 and is now among the top selling whiskies in the world, especially in Italy. The number of stills at Glen Grant were increased from 4 to 6 in 1973 and again from 6 to 10 in 1977 when the distillery was acquired by Seagram (Chivas).
